Why a year and not a catalogue

Most tool shops are arranged the way a warehouse is: cutting, cleaning, power, hand. That is convenient for the warehouse. It is not how a garden gives you work. A garden gives you work in a sequence, and the sequence repeats every twelve months.

So the shop is arranged the way the year arrives. The pruning tools sit in late winter, because that is the only sensible window for them. The blower sits in autumn. If you are standing in a wet April trying to kill the weeds on a drive, you should not have to read about pressure washers to get there.

What gets stocked

The test is whether a tool does a job the season actually asks for, and does it well enough that you would not go back to doing it by hand. That is a narrow test, and it is why there are eight things here rather than four hundred.
